One of
the most popular summer events of Summer, this year, funding cuts make
your contribution that much more meaningful. The event attracts hundreds
of young professionals who will enjoy fabulous food and drink, wonderful
company, and the chance to bid on the best that Washington DC has to
offer. As in years past, a wide variety of
items will be auctioned, including fine wines, jewelry, vacations,
award winning photography and art, all donated by local and national
business and community leaders.
As always,
100% of auction proceeds will go towards providing HIV/AIDS education
programs, testing and counseling for the young people of the metro DC
area.
This year,
our community is facing a major funding crisis and unfortunately, young
people and their families will be the ones to pay the price. This year,
our region is going to lose $1,000,000 (one million dollars!) per year
in HIV prevention funding for young people. This will mean hundreds
and thousands of young people will be kept ignorant of life-saving HIV
prevention messages.
Metro TeenAIDS
plays a vital role in our local community and is held as a national
example of effective HIV prevention with young people. We are the only
local organization that focuses all of our energy on fighting the HIV/AIDS
epidemic by, with and for young people and we can't do it without your
help.
The cuts
in funding include $250,000 per year that has historically gone to Metro
TeenAIDS. We need your support to continue our valuable role in the
community in saving and changing the lives of Washington, DC young people.

in advance for your support and we'll see you on June 17th!
