| "Now that I
Know" and "I Want to Know" are parts of a social marketing
project designed to increase the number of young people who overcome barriers
and get tested for HIV, with a special focus on African American young people.
Coordinated by Metro TeenAIDS this project was conceived, researched and designed by 14 young people from City Year DC, working with Schoumacher and Associates, a local, woman of color owned, public relations firm. Scientists believe that one of the factors in people changing their behavior is when we see people who look and seem credible to us (peers) doing the new behavior. We're much more likely to start smoking if all of our peers are smoking. We're also much more likely to stop if our peers stop. On this site you can see and download all four of the current campaign posters. Two additional posters will be available next month. They will feature a young woman with a baby and a young pregnant woman. The campaign will be up in DC Metro trains and busses July - September 2003. |
