Statement from Metro Teen AIDS

Recent news reports have uncovered serious issues with housing-related grants awarded to a number of organizations chartered to serve Washington, DC adults living with HIV/AIDS.

This past financial mismanagement by other organizations – and the people living with HIV/AIDS who were unfairly denied critical housing and life services – again brings to light the urgent needs throughout the Washington region, including with the teenagers and young adults that Metro Teen AIDS serves every day.

It is imperative to remember that fiscally responsible organizations such as Metro Teen AIDS continue to provide valuable, life-saving services and adhere to the financial and reporting parameters of our funding sources.

For us, our mission has been and continues to be to supporting DC young people in the fight against HIV/AIDS. It is our hope that the inactions and allegedly fraudulent activities of other organizations do not tarnish the proven track record of trusted and financially sound organizations such as Metro Teen AIDS.
