GET INVOLVED!

There are several ways you can support Metro TeenAIDS in the fight against HIV/AIDS among young people in Washington D.C. Please click on one of the following options.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Metro TeenAIDS!

Below is a list of the volunteer opportunities we offer at MTA:

Safer Sex Kit Assembly: Once a month volunteers from One Brick come to Metro TeenAIDS to assemble safer sex kits. If you are interested in assembling safer sex kits for Metro TeenAIDS, please contact One Brick at washingtondc.onebrick.org.

Youth Center Programming: Freestyle is Metro TeenAIDS’ youth space that serves as a safe–space and a hub for our Peer Educators aging from 13–24. Freestyle also focuses on structured positive youth development programming infused with educational and civic activities around HIV prevention, sexual health and substance abuse prevention.

Our new REALTalkDC Training program launched in April 2014 is an innovative youth development program designed to allow youth between the ages of 13-24 to become trained advocates for themselves, in their schools, communities, and beyond. The REALTalk program’s overarching goal is to create a future of healthier, better educated, successful teens. While receiving some of the most effective and interactive training from our youth and adult staff, participants are provided a continuum of experiences to ensure increased knowledge, responsibility, leadership opportunities and life skills in three major areas: health and wellness, educational attainment, and workforce readiness. If you’re of the age 13-24 y/o and would like to volunteer and/or be apart of our new REALTalkDC Training program, visit us at FreeStyle Youth Center, 651 Pennsylvania Ave. SE (Lower Level) every 1st Tuesdays of the month from 5pm-7pm.

If you are interested in facilitating an educational Freestyle program, please fill out our activity plan form (Freestyle Activity Plan). All activities must incorporate civic engagement, life skills, or an art project, and must last 2 hours. Please e-mail your complete activity plan to [email protected]. You will be contacted if we are able to include your plan in our monthly Freestyle calendar. If your plan is accepted, you must complete a background check form (Background Check Form) and return it to Metro TeenAIDS at least 2 weeks before you come to Freestyle.

Event Volunteering: Throughout the year, Metro TeenAIDS hosts testing events for youth in DC. If you are interested in being contacted as an event volunteer, please fill out our volunteer survey. In addition to being notified of MTA’s volunteer opportunities, you will also receive MTA’s monthly newsletter.

Alternative Spring Break: Thank you so much for considering Metro TeenAIDS as a site for your Alternative Spring Break trip. Unfortunately, we do not currently have the capacity to accommodate Alternative Spring Break trips. We do, however, hope that in the future we will be able to reinstate our involvement with Alternate Spring Breaks. Please keep us in mind in the future.
