REALtalkDC is about getting that ‘real talk’ about what is in going on in our community – the District of Columbia young people want to know about HIV and STIs, safer sex, how to protect ourselves, and how to get tested in DC. REALtalkDC is about meeting young people where they are – online, on cell phones, at school and in the streets.
REALtalkDC is in the forefront of combating HIV in DC. The statistics are alarming. In March 2009, the Washington Post reported that the HIV prevalence rate in DC is 3%. The rate needs to be 1% to be considered an epidemic. DC is in a state of emergency and REALtalkDC is here to be a part of the answer.
We are focusing on the future and fostering a generation that is HIV free by supporting youth through access to free condoms and testing in the nation’s capital.
